SEKEM is an Egyptian initiative promoting sustainable development in four dimensions: ecology, economy, cultural & societal life. Founded by Ibrahim Abouleish in 1977, SEKEM is a nurturing cradle to biodynamic farms, trading companies, medical care & diverse educational institutions that are inspired by Waldorf education & include a school for children with special needs, a vocational training center, & adult educational activities. All these institutions & activities are birthed to support holistic human development & potential-unfolding.

Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development 

Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development opened under SEKEM in 2012.

Its aim is to pioneer & introduce the concepts & principles of sustainable development to students & the Egyptian community by decreasing threats to the ecosystem as a result of industrialization & consumption while cultivating over-all well-being.

Getting There

From downtown Cairo, take either:  

1. S.I.F Shuttle Bus

2. Uber/Taxi.
